N. Forraz, C. McGuckin

Abstract: Medicine and science are put their hopes in regenerative medicine and development of stem cells research. The present study try to define regenerative medicine concept focusing on the abundant source of stem cells, neonatal tissue, also called umbilical cord. The blood taken from umbilical cord is utilized in therapy already since 20 years ago like a cells source for the hematopoietic stem cells transplant. Stem cells taken from umbilical cord have been demonstrated a high potential in pluripotent differentiation (liver, pancreas, neural tissue, and also other organs too) both in vitro and in vivo. These promising researches have been inaugurated a new age for neonatal stem cells utilization used nowadays out of hematology too, in clinical studies for the immune system disorders, cerebral paralysis or diabetes.
