Abstract: This study evaluated the HPV genotype encountered in genital infections of female population from the Moldavian region of Romania, in order to improve the monitoring criteria for this infection. We included 152 women with an average age of 40 (between 17-63), that addressed to Cuza Voda Hospital of Iasi, Romania, and that were investigated colposcopically, cytologically and by HPV genotyping using the InnoLipa kit. The DNA HPV presence was correlated to cytopathology, as viral genome was found both in normal cases and cervical atypia ones. From our patients, 32.24% had no HPV infection, and from those positive, in 75% of cases oncogenic genotypes were found. The most prevalent oncogenic genotype was HPV 16 (43.12%), followed by HPV 18 (10.34%) and HPV 31 (10.34%). Age grouping for our patients showed that HPV positive percentage was similar (65% in the group 17-29, 66% in 30-39, and 70.83% in over 40). HPV genotyping with Innolipa kit from Innogenetics demonstrates the role of oncogenic HPV infection prevention, and that it is useful for monitoring patients with cervical dysplasia.
