Abstract: Because of the consequences of the premature labor it must be known his triggers (infections, uterine and placental ischemia, uterine supra- distension, cervix anomalies, immune aggressions) in order to prevent and stop the physiological chain of premature labor. There is assessed how the intrauterine infections influence the premature labor, the fetal outcome, there are pointed out the microorganisms involved, and the maternal, fetal and intrauterine pathophysiological mechanisms. There is much evidence in the literature showing the implication of IL1 and TNFα in premature labor, revealing the hypothesis that inflammatory syndrome is a chronic process, and data about the precise laboratory diagnosis of this syndrome. In conclusion. Because of vital risks on mother and fetus, is important not only the early diagnosis and the adequate therapy, but far more important is the prophylactic attitude.
Keywords: inflammatory syndrome, premature delivery, IL1, TNF alfa
